Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) has invited (EoIs) to set up floating solar power projects over reservoirs in three regions of Karnataka. The projects have been proposed on reservoirs in Manvi, Sirguppa and Ballari City in the state.
The board intends to lease 60-70 acres area for a total period of 30 years through urban local bodies in the cities. The projects would be developed on build, own, and operate (BOO) model on a revenue sharing basis. The power generated from the floating solar plants will be sold to Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL).
According to the tender guidelines, interested developers having experience in setting up similar projects can submit their proposals after paying a sum of Rs 5,900. The pre-bid meeting had taken place on June 15, 2018 and the last date for submission of EoI is June 30, 2018. The technical tenders will be opened on July 2, 2018.
Floating solar power projects have been gaining traction in states where land availability for the development of utility-scale projects is an issue. Over the past year tenders have been issued in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep, etc.
