35 companies submit EoIs for 1,000 MW Commercial Offshore Wind Farms Project

A total of 35 companies have submitted the Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for development of 1,000 MW capacity commercial offshore wind farms in India, off the coast of Gujarat.

These include Van Oord India Private Limited, Orstead, Greenko Clean Energy Projects Private Limited in joint venture (JV) with Senvion; Alfanar- Senvion JV, Sterlite Power Grid Ventures Limited-GE T&D India Limited JV; Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Greenko Wind Projects Private Limited (Greenko Wind)-Siemens Gamesa JV; SembCorp Green Infra Limited-Senvion JV; consortium of Torrent Power and Vaayu (I) Power Corporation Limited; Inox Wind India Limited, Mainstream Renewable Power Limited, Park Wind etc.

The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) had issued the EoI for the same in April 2018. The government had notified the ‘to realize offshore wind power potential in the country. As per the National Offshore Wind Energy Policy, 2015 MNRE will be nodal ministry and NIWE will be the nodal agency for the development of these offshore wind energy projects in the country.
