Azure Power India Private Limited and Shapoorji Pallonji (SP) have received the Letters of Award (LoAs) from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MSPGCL) for 250 MW capacity solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects under agricultural (AG) feeder program in Maharashtra. The power purchase agreements (PPAs) for these projects are likely to be signed by end-June 2018.
Azure Power has won the bids to develop four 50 MW projects for a cumulative capacity of 200 MW by quoting the tariff of Rs 3.07 kWh. The projects are likely to be developed outside a solar park and they are expected to be commissioned in 2019. Meanwhile, SP has won the bids to develop 50 MW capacity by quoting the tariff of Rs 3.26 kWh.
MSPGCL is providing free land to the developers for these projects as they have received the land from the Maharashtra government without any cost.
MSPGCL aims to “solarise” Maharashtra’s agricultural feeders by constructing 1,500 MW of solar projects capacity, with capacity at each individual project expected to range from a minimum of 2 MW to a maximum of 50 MW.
