MNRE announces new policy for wind-solar hybrid projects in India

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) announced the new policy for wind-solar hybrid projects on May 14, 2018. MNRE issued the draft of the policy in June 2016. The policy has now been finalised after detailed consultation with stakeholders.

The aim of the policy is to provide a framework for promotion of large grid connected wind-solar photovoltaic (PV) hybrid system for optimal and efficient utilisation of transmission infrastructure and land, reducing the variability in renewable power generation and achieving better grid stability in the country. The policy also aims at encouraging new technologies, methods and way outs involving combined operation of wind and solar PV projects.
