KSEB signs MoU with NTPC for increasing solar power generation in Kerala

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NTPC Limited for increasing solar power generation in the state on May 11, 2018. The MoU includes an agreement to set up a 15 MW ground mounted solar plant at NTPC complex in Kayamkulam, Kerala. The power generated from the plant would be sold to KSEB at a rate fixed by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC). In the long run, the two agencies plan to increase solar power generation to over 100 MW by establishing more plants on the NTPC land. Besides this, the possibility of setting up solar plants at reservoirs, open space and top of buildings would also be explored.
