The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) has invited expressions of interest (EoIs) for developing 500 MW capacity solar park. The solar park can be set up in a single or multiple locations across Tamil Nadu such that the aggregated installed capacity is 500 MW. Moreover, the solar park should have a minimum installed capacity of 50 MW and maximum capacity of 500 MW.
The projects can be developed in both self-development and co-development mode. Under the self-development mode, developers will be required to identify the land as well as set up the solar park. In addition, the developers will need to allocate plots for individual solar projects of minimum 1 MW capacity. Under the co-development mode projects can be set up by individuals or a group of farmers, farmers’ welfare associations, women self-help groups, gram panchayats, etc, having the required land. For co-development projects, TEDA is exploring the possibility of funding the projects through financial partners. In addition, TEDA could also be a joint venture partner.
The EOI calls for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) within 60 days of its release, i.e by June 7, 2018. After MNRE’s approval a grant of up to Rs 2 million per MW or 30 per cent of the project cost including the grid connectivity cost, whichever is lower, will be released by TEDA. This grant will be divided between the development of solar park and the development of external transmission system in a 60:40 ratio.
