Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy awards 1,024.5 MW of renewable energy contracts

Under the A-4 tender released by Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy, the government has awarded 1,024.5 MW of clean power project contracts. This comprise 114.4 MW of wind power, 806.6 MW solar, 61.8 MW of biomass, 34.5 MW of small-hydro and 7.1 MW of mini-hydro projects. Overall, projects with 48,713 MW of combined capacity were registered under the auction. For small-hydro and mini-hydro projects, PPAs will be signed for a period of 30 years while those for other sources will be signed for a 20-year term. Power supply from these projects is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2022.
