The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has proposed a benchmark tariff of Rs 3.11 per kWh without accelerated depreciation (AD) for solar power projects and Rs 2.86 per kWh without AD for wind power projects. TNERC has proposed an AD component of Re 0.06 per kWh for solar as well as wind power. The proposed solar tariff is 30.8 per cent less than the previous benchmark tariff of Rs 4.50 per kWh without AD. Meanwhile, for wind power it is 45.45 per cent less than the previous benchmark tariff of Rs 4.16 per kWh. The new tariff for wind power will be applicable from March 31, 2018, whereas the solar tariff will be applicable after the expiry of the previous TNERC tariff order.
