The Ministry of Power (MoP) has exempted solar and wind power projects, which are commissioned by March 31, 2022 and awarded through competitive bidding, from paying interstate transmission system (ISTS) charges and losses. The waiver is applicable for the entire duration of the power purchase agreement (PPA), which is usually 25 years. The order has extended the ISTS charge waiver for wind and solar projects from the previous deadlines of March 31, 2019 and December 31, 2019 respectively.
