MNRE proposes an action plan for WTG companies to obtain LVRT certification

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has charted a course of action for wind turbine generator (WTG) companies to obtain low voltage ride-through (LVRT) certification within the stipulated time frame. The move comes in light of WTG companies facing difficulties in the process. The MNRE has set March 31, 2019 as the last date for self-certification in line with the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) certification standards, failing which WTG manufacturers will not be included in the revised list of models and manufacturers. WTG manufacturers can apply for LVRT certification to any internationally accredited testing body or the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE). However, for WTG models that already have self-certification, an additional certificate from NIWE must be obtained to demonstrate their compliance with the CEA’s technical standards.
