Lowest bid of Rs 2.44 per kWh discovered in SECI wind auction

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has announced the winners of its 2 GW auction for interstate transmission system-connected wind power projects under Tranche III. The lowest tariff of Rs 2.44 per kWh was quoted by four bidders, namely, ReNew Power, Green Infra Wind Energy, Inox Wind and Torrent Power, which won 400 MW, 300 MW, 200 MW and 499.8 MW of capacities, respectively. Adani Green Energy, Alfanar Company and Betam Wind Energy, which won 250 MW, 300 MW and 50.2 MW respectively, quoted a tariff of Rs 2.45 per kWh. All bidders won the capacities that they had bid for except Betam Wind Energy Private Limited, which had initially submitted a bid for developing 250 MW of capacity but was awarded only 50.2 MW. With this tender, the wind tariffs have come down to the level of solar tariffs.
