TSK Ingeniería y Electricidad S.A., a Spanish engineering services provider, has won the contract for the construction of the 50 MW Oruro solar plant, in western Bolivia. As per the Bolivian government, the project will be developed on 72 hectares of land near the community of Ancotanga, Oruro. When complete, it will cover almost half the energy demand of the entire region. The project will require a total investment of about $54.7 million and the financing will be provided by the French Development Agency, the European Union and the Central Bank of Bolivia. This is the second large-scale solar project in Bolivia after the Uyuni solar plant, which is being built in Antonio Quijarro province and is expected to be commissioned in March 2018.
