The renewable energy wing of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has announced plans to generate solar power to meet their daily power requirements. Reportedly, DSGMC has already initiated a 1 MW capacity solar PV project which is expected to be commissioned by March 31, 2018 by Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited. The project will generate about 4,000 units per kWh and 1.3 million kWh annually. Initially, only four gurdwaras, namely, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Gurudwara Rakab Ganj, Gurdwara Nanak Piao and Gurdwara Majnu ka Tila, will utilise the solar power generated from the project. However, this capacity will be increased to 2 MW when more gurdwaras are brought under the programme’s ambit.
