Abu Dhabi fund for Development to provide loans for solar projects in Mauritius and Rwanda

The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) will provide a concessional loan worth $25 million for the development of two solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Mauritius and Rwanda. Both the projects will be financed through the International Renewable Energy Agency/ADFD Project Facility. A $10 million loan will be given to the Central Electricity Board, Mauritius, for installing about 10,000 solar rooftop systems. A loan of $15 million will be given to Rwanda for setting up 500,000 off-grid solar PV systems across the country for lighting, and mobile phone and radio charging. These loans will cover up to 50 per cent of the project costs in the two countries.
