Geothermal Plant in Nevada commissioned

The 24 MW Tungsten Mountain geothermal power plant of Ormat Technologies in Nevada has reached commercial operation. The power generated from the plant will be sold to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The new project brings Ormat’s total operating portfolio to 800 MW. The commissioned capacity is a part of the geothermal project pipeline, which will sell a total of 150 MW of power to the Southern California Public Power Authority, when completed. This will assist the state of California in switching from coal-based power while maintaining a reliable power supply.
