Church Pension Fund provides $17 million in funds for off-grid solar loans

The Church Pension Fund (CPF), a financial services organisation of the Episcopal Church, has invested funds worth $17 million to provide loans to microfinance institutions, distribution companies, and manufacturers in the off-grid solar segment in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The CPF has invested these funds in the Social Investment Managers and Advisors Off-Grid Solar and Financial Access Senior Debt Fund I, B.V. The investment is aimed at enabling affordable solar equipment leasing facilities to more than 1 million people thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 4 million tonnes.
