NLC India commissions 130 MW solar project

The Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) has commissioned a 130 MW solar project in Tamil Nadu. The project is spread over four locations in Neyveli and is being implemented in two blocks of 65 MW each by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and Jakson Engineers. Both blocks are connected to 33/110 kV pooling substations. NLC has signed a 25-year PPA with Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) at a preferential tariff of Rs 5.10 per kWh. The overall project cost is estimated at Rs 7.53 billion. This includes a viability gap funding (VGF) of Rs 975 million per annum under the MNRE’s central public service unit (CPSU) programme. The project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 216,000 tonnes.
