Directorate General recommends safeguard duty on imported solar cells

The Directorate General of Safeguards Customs and Central Excise has proposed to impose a 70 per cent safeguard duty on solar cells imported from China and Malaysia for a period of 200 days. The proposal was released following a petition filed by the Indian Solar Manufacturers Association on behalf of domestic manufacturers. A public hearing will be held before taking the final decision.
