The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued an order discontinuing the empanelment of channel partners under the grid-connected rooftop and small solar power plant programme. Further, it has notified implementing agencies to allow bidding from non-channel partners. This is expected to encourage new players to enter the segment and ease bidding for upcoming tenders towards meeting the 40 GW target. The move comes after the MNRE released an order mandating quality control of equipment used for the development of solar power projects.
