France adds 500 MW of wind capacity in the third quarter of 2017

France has added wind power capacity of 500 MW in the third quarter of this year, taking the total wind capacity installation in 2017 to 1,019 MW. This is approximately 23 per cent higher compared to the same period in the previous year. Therefore, France’s cumulative installed wind capacity is now 12.9 GW. Wind power accounted for about 4.5 per cent of the country’s electricity consumption this year. France is planning to increase its installed wind capacity to 15 GW by the end of 2018 and reach a capacity of 26 GW by 2023.
