Engie plans to stop its gas consumption by 2050

French multinational electric utility company ENGIE has announced its plan to switch from gas operations to clean fuel by 2050. The utility plans to use biogas and hydrogen to achieve 100 per cent green operations. Currently, ENGIE has about 70 biogas-based power projects worldwide, including 40 in France. In addition, ENGIE plans to produce hydrogen gas by electrolysing water using solar energy at a more competitive price than steam reforming of hydrocarbons.
