KERC notifies wind power tariff of Rs 3.74 per kWh

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has passed an order to reduce feed-in tariff for wind power from Rs 4.50 to Rs 3.74 per kWh. Under the order, all new wind power projects without KERC-approved power purchase agreements (PPAs) would be modified in line with the new tariff. The order was released after observing the record low bids in the wind auctions this year. Reportedly, wind projects aggregating 599 MW await KERC’s approval for the PPAs signed at the old rate. Of this, around 273 MW of projects are already supplying power to state discoms and may need to renegotiate their PPAs. The remaining 326 MW of capacity is still under construction.
