EBRD issues $500 million worth of short-term global green bonds

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has issued $500 million worth of short-term global green bonds. The bonds have a four-year tenor and pay a coupon rate of 1.38 per cent. Barclays, Citi and Credit Agricole CIB have acted as joint bookrunners for the underwriting of bonds. The proceeds from EBRD’s green bonds will be used to support the specific portfolio of environmentally and socially sustainable projects called the Green Project Portfolio, which currently comprises investments in the areas including energy efficiency, renewable energy, water management, waste management, air pollution prevention and sustainable transport.
