Azure Power and Fourth Partner Energy win 30 MW of rooftop projects for Indian Railways

Indian Railways (IR) has awarded a contract for a 30 MW rooftop solar project to Azure Power and Fourth Partner Energy. Of the 30 MW, Azure Power will develop 20 MW to provide electricity to IR’s facilities across 17 states and union territories. This power will be sold at a tariff ranging from Rs 3.64 to Rs 4.49 per kWh depending on the location. In addition, the company will receive a capital incentive from IR, resulting in a weighted average levellised tariff of approximately Rs 4.88 per kWh. The remaining 10 MW will be developed by Fourth Partner Energy at IR’s facilities in Varanasi, Jabalpur and Gorakhpur. The rooftop solar tariffs will vary from Rs 3.50 to Rs 4.80 per kWh. Moreover, a separate tariff range of Rs 3.50 to Rs 3.90 per kWh will be applied to projects for which IR will provide an incentive of up to 15 per cent of the project cost.
