ADB and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to fund power transmission network components

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will fund additional power transmission network components with co-financing from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The financing approved for the project includes a $500 million government-backed loan as well as $500 million of non-sovereign lending to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. The new transmission network components will complement the green energy corridor and grid strengthening projects in the country and aid expansion to include 400 kV transmission components in Tamil Nadu to connect the long distance grid systems financed by ADB in Pugalur.
