Canadian Solar acquires 80.6MW solar PV project in Brazil

Canada-based solar power company Canadian Solar has acquired 80.6 MW of solar PV project at Guimarania, Brazil. The company will use solar modules manufactured at its local factory in Sao Paulo for the project to meet Brazil’s domestic content requirements mandate. The company is expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2018, with its completion scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2018. A PPA has been signed between Canadian Solar and Electrical Energy Commercialisation Chamber, Brazil for 20 years at a fixed tariff of $92 per MWh.
