Socomec’s functional switching solutions for PV installations

Socomec offers a wide variety of switching solutions for use inside array junction and string combiner boxes, and for safe DC side isolation of solar inverters. The PV product range spans across applications towards isolation of rooftop installation entailing 600 Vdc, ground-mounted solar PV system having 1000 Vdc and grid-connected 1500 Vdc systems. Socomec has launched a new modular trip version that incorporates class-leading performance in a compact frame. Typically, the 1000 Vdc PV-rated isolators are available in four-pole designs wherein sets of poles are connected in series via shorting links. The design qualifies for 250Vdc breaking per pole. There is also a new range of PV isolators that are even more compact, completely avoiding the shorting links, enabling 1000Vdc design with just two real poles. The high 500 Vdc/pole voltage break is achieved by a patented magnet-based arc chute. The same design philosophy is effectively employed in the design of 1500 Vdc PV isolators. Both the designs are capable of proactively interrupting the critical current and meeting or exceeding the stringent guidelines set forth in the IEC standards.
