The Renewable Energy Welfare Society (REWS) has approached the Ministry of Power seeking waiver of the cross-subsidy surcharge (CSS) for renewable energy projects. According to REWS, CSS is more than Rs 3 per kWh in some states resulting in high per unit cost of power transmission. This has also prevented small investors from entering the market and restricted open access through third-party sale.
