NTPC looks for an offtaker for 250 MW project at Kadapa Solar Park

Following Andhra Pradesh State Power Distribution Company Limited’s (APSPDCL) refusal to sign a PPA with NTPC at Rs 3.15 per kWh for the 250 MW project at the Kadapa Solar Park, the latter is looking for another offtaker. The 250 MW project is being set up by French company Solairedirect. APSPDCL has stated that Andhra Pradesh is a power-surplus state and provides electricity to its consumers at one of the cheapest rates; therefore, a tariff of Rs 3.15 per kWh is not feasible. However, the discom has agreed to evacuate any surplus power generated by the plant free of cost.
