EBRD to finance 50 MW solar park in Kazakhstan

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has signed a mandate letter for co-financing up to $28 million for a new 50 MW Baikonur solar park in Kazakhstan. The Baikonur solar park, with a capacity of up to 50 MW, will be located in Kyzylorda and will be built by Samruk Kazyna United Green Energy, a joint venture of UG Energy, an investment company registered in the UK, and Samruk-Kazyna Invest, a division of Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund. The financing forms a part of the $200 million EBRD renewable energy financing framework for Kazakhstan.
