The Ministry of Power in consultation with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced that the waiver period for inter-state transmission charges and losses for solar projects will be extended until December 31, 2019. The waiver will be applicable for a period of 25 years from the date of commissioning. The imposition of such charges could have raised the cost of using solar power as compared to thermal power.
