The government of Jharkhand has decided to provide 50 per cent subsidy to residential and 10 per cent subsidy to commercial consumers installing rooftop solar with net metering in the state. This is to encourage rooftop solar deployment and help the agency meet its renewable purchase obligation (RPO) target. The Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Authority will be setting up these projects along with net metering systems across the state. The agency reported that the policy is currently in the process of being finalised and its implementation is likely to begin by end-July 2017.
