Uttar Pradesh government plans to set up 750 MW solar projects at Bhadla

With solar tariffs reaching an all-time low of Rs 2.44 per kWh at the recently concluded Bhadla Phase III Solar Park auction, the Uttar Pradesh government is considering setting up 750 MW of solar projects at Bhadla. As far as the transmission of power is concerned, it will be undertaken by the central transmission utility without the levy of any transmission charges or fees. The Ministry of Power had issued a notification stating that no interstate transmission charges and losses will be levied for solar projects commissioned by June 30, 2017. In this regard, the Uttar Pradesh government has already requested the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for further extension/concession. The government is planning to award the projects by August 31, 2017, and start generation of solar power from October 2018.
