Bengaluru floats tenders for two waste-to-energy projects of 80 MW

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has floated tenders for two waste-to-energy (WtE) projects at Kannahalli and Mavallipura with a total capacity of about 80 MW. The projects will be commissioned within 18 to 24 months. The BBMP is also planning to set up a third WtE project, for which tenders are yet to be floated. Apart from the two projects, the government is planning to develop WtE projects at various other locations. Power generated from these projects will be connected to the grid and supplied through the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation. The BBMP is planning to offer higher tariffs than what is allowed by the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission to attract investments from project developers.
