French energy regulator publishes tender for commercial PV projects for self-consumption

The French Energy Regulatory Authority has released a 450 MW tender for the installation of renewable energy projects. The capacity will be tendered over a three-year period through nine separate windows of 50 MW each for submitting project proposals. The first window will close on September 27, 2017, while the deadline for the last window will be May 20, 2020. The first tender window will be open to rooftop PV installations and other renewable energy projects with a capacity of 100-500 kW. The owners of these systems can either consume or sell the power generated to a third party located in the same building. The annual rate of self-consumption must be higher than 50 per cent. As for rooftop PV projects, the tender allows installations on buildings and carports only. Surplus power will be sold to French utility EDF at a tariff ranging from Euro 50 per MWh in the first tender window to Euro 40 per MWh in the last window.
