Wind power segment registers record capacity addition in 2016-17

The wind power segment has recorded capacity additions of over 5,500 MW in 2016-17, well over the set target of 4,000 MW. Among states, Andhra Pradesh accounted for most of the installed capacity with over 2,190 MW, followed by Gujarat and Karnataka with 1,275 MW and 882 MW installations, respectively. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana and Kerala reported 357 MW, 288 MW, 262 MW, 118 MW, 23 MW and 8 MW of wind power capacity additions respectively.
