KSERC rejects KIIDC’s application to determine the tariff for a floating solar project

The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has rejected the application submitted by the Kerala Irrigation Infrastructure Development Corporation (KIIDC) to determine the tariff for the proposed floating solar project planned at Chulliyar dam in Palakkad. The commission cited several inconsistencies and unrealistic claims by KIIDC regarding the cost involved in setting up the floating solar power project as the reason for rejection. The tariff quoted by KIIDC is Rs 8.86 per kWh, which is almost double the tariff quoted by other developers lately. The commission has recommended KIIDC to take necessary steps to get central financial assistance or other incentives from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) so that the tariff can be brought down to competitive levels.
