First Solar secures finanacing by Mizuho Bank

US-based thin-film PV module manufacturer First Solar has obtained the non-recourse project debt financing of nearly JPY 27 billion through a syndicated loan arranged by Mizuho Bank Limited for a utility-scale solar project in Ishikawa prefecture, Japan. The 59.5 MW AC Ishikawa Sogo solar power plant will be one of the largest mega solar plants in the Hokuriku region. Once complete, it is expected to provide sufficient clean energy to cater to around 17,500 average Japanese homes, mitigating approximately 35,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. The plant is likely to begin operations by end-2018.
