First Solar receives three contracts in Australia and France

US-based thin-film solar PV manufacturer First Solar has received three module supply contracts in Australia and France. In France, the company has received an order from Photosol to power 14 utility-scale solar power plants with a total capacity of 106.5 MW. The power plants will be located in central and southwest France, and will range from 4.5 MW to 43 MW in terms of capacity. For the first contract in Australia, First Solar will supply 63 MW of advanced thin-film modules for the Kidston Phase 1 solar project in Queensland. For the second contract in Australia, the company will supply modules for the 140 MW Sun Metals solar farm in North Queensland. In a separate development, First Solar has entered into a five-year collaborative sales agreement with Turkey-based Zorlu Holding A.S. to distribute its modules in Turkey, Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and the Commonwealth of Independent States. In addition to selling PV modules in these markets, the company will undertake its own project development using First Solar’s modules.
