The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the government’s proposal to enhance the targeted capacity under the Scheme for Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects from 20,000 MW to 40,000 MW. The targeted capacity will be set up by 2019-20, with a central financial assistance of Rs 81 billion. The Solar Energy Corporation of India will administer the scheme with directions from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
