The Ministry of Shipping has launched the Green Port Initiative, under which it plans to set up 136.5 MW of solar and wind power projects across 12 major ports in the country. These include 91.5 MW of solar and 46 MW of wind power projects. The ministry has already commissioned 15.2 MW and 6 MW of wind and solar power projects respectively at various ports. According to the ministry, these projects are expected to save around Rs 750 million of energy costs.
