Gamesa is planning to invest Rs 175 billion in Andhra Pradesh to set up 2.5 GW of solar, wind, and solar-wind hybrid power projects. The company will acquire land and collaborate with investors and industries to set up these renewable energy projects. Gamesa will be responsible for the construction, commissioning, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of the projects. Meanwhile, the company has also launched a new wind blade manufacturing facility in the Nellore region of Andhra Pradesh. Under the first phase, the facility will manufacture blades for the G114-2.0 MW class S turbines, a product custom-configured for India’s wind conditions. The second phase, scheduled to commence from mid-2017 will increase the blade production capacity as well as enable the production of generators and PV inverters. The factory currently employs 500 people and its headcount is expected to rise to 1,000 within three years.
