BHEL has secured an order for the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop systems totalling 3.6 MW from the Surat Municipal Corporation. According to BHEL, while all the 10 identified areas of installation would be within the municipal limits of the city, 1 MW of these projects will be required for the Surat Smart City. According to the company, this is the single largest order won by BHEL for a rooftop PV system. It manufactures solar cells and modules at its electronics division in Bengaluru.
