The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has finalised the tariff for small-hydro projects (SHPs). The tariff for projects up to 5 MW of capacity has been set at Rs 4.32 per kWh without accelerated depreciation (AD) benefits and Rs 3.94 with AD. The tariff for projects between 5 MW and 25 MW has been set at Rs 3.64 per kWh without AD benefits and Rs 3.29 with AD. These tariffs will be applicable for projects to be commissioned during 2016-17. The order further states that wheeling of power for third-party sale from SHPs will be allowed on the payment of transmission charges, wheeling charges and losses of energy fed into the grid, as applicable to normal open access consumers.
